About Us:
What We Do
The Ventura County Medical Explorer Post 911 is an organization centered in Thousand Oaks which gives youth Explorers insight to multiple different medical fields and opportunities for their futures. The Post is a way for teens interested in any area of science and medicine to explore and further their knowledge about various professions in healthcare. We are the first medical post in the county and often partner with other non-profit organizations such as Safe Passage and Los Robles Hospital.
Our bi-weekly Monday meetings include:
- Hand-on suturing, IV, Stop the Bleed, Vitals, sample collection, splinting, and more
- engaging lectures from Pathologists, Neurologists, Trauma specialists, Forensics and more
Leadership
The Post is mainly run by the students. With bi-yearly elections for positions such as chief, Sergeant at Arms, Battalion Chiefs, Chief medical officer, squad captain, and more, all explorers get a chance to take on a leadership role, exposing them to responsibilities that come with any future career thy choose.
